I finished up this dog bowl holder for Charlie. I cut a triangular piece and laser engraved his name and then glued it on the back. I also used my 3d printer to print out a dog bone template for my router so I could cut a Dog bone shaped hole in the sides.

I finished it with Spray Lacquer.

I also got this wood from a monitor stand that my Dad had made for me probably 30 years ago. I had held onto it for some reason. I think the top is Maple and the sides are Pine. I ended up taking the monitor stand apart and cutting it all square and then joined the top and sides with 45° miter joints.

We'll see how long the finish lasts with it getting wet every day. Every other type of wood finish I've used has always failed to keep water out completely so hopefully this Lacquer holds up better.

I used Chat Gpt 4 on Bing to create a new logo. This is currently my third logo change since being on social media.

I have been thinking about switching from Luther Woodworks to Luther Builds for a long time as I do more general making than just woodworking. While it's still primarily woodworking, I have done more diy/home stuff and 3d printing lately than building things out of just wood. This isn't the final logo as I'll need to have it professionally recreated. There are minor changes that I would make like the letter spacing and font. But I have heard it said many times before that simpler is better when it comes to logo design. I also had a third account entitled Luther_builds that I deleted but I hadn't logged into that account in probably 5 years. But I think the Builds more accurately describes what I do and post on here.

For anyone wondering, my previous logo I designed myself which I really liked. But I used Fiverr to have someone make it a high quality image and file.

If anyone has any experience making their own logos or digital design, send me a DM. Or if you have any ideas as to what or how you would change this logo.

Made some progress on the fence today. 9 more posts set in concrete. I lost track of how many bags of concrete I mixed but each hole took between 3-4 bags. I had to go pick up 20 more 60lb bags. Definitely got a workout loading the 1200lb onto a flat bed cart, pushing it out to our van, loading it into the van, unloading it and mixing it. But the hard work and sweat feels good, as crazy as that sounds. Hopefully my back holds up. I'm just glad they're not 80lb bags. I'm estimating that I'll have to go back and pick up 15-20 more bags to finish the rest of the job.

This project was definitely something new for me and I learned a lot. I learned that even if you take the time and steps to make sure the drawers are square, it doesn't mean the cabinet is. All but one of the drawers fit perfectly. The very bottom drawer for some reason needed the drawer slide to be shimmed out in the front. I put 3 small washers between the slide and the filler strip where they screw into. I was being lazy while building these and didn't take any progress shots or videos along the way.

I'm not sure I've seen drawers made this way before but I thought I'd give it a try. They are made with 3/4" Birch Plywood from

The sides are 3" tall so they won't have any flex in them as you pull the drawer out from the cabinet. These are going in our Pantry cabinet in our kitchen.

I didn't show really any of the progress of making these drawers because I wasn't sure if these would turn out as well as they did. I didn't want to come across as knowing what I'm doing. Half the time, I feel like a hack and that I'm learning as I go so I don't want to show something here that I'm not sure is going to be good enough.

I was originally going to reinforce the miters with exterior splines but I decided on interior splines after seeing Jodee from Inspire Woodcraft on YouTube show how to make them.

Obviously if these drawers fail, then I can always repair them. I personally really like the clean look of these as opposed to having exposed edges of the plywood showing on the front or sides of the drawers.

It took me about 5 hours to remove the old countertop and sink and install the new one.

This sat in my shop for the past week and I knew I needed a big chunk of time to do it.

I had to raise and level both the dishwasher and stove so they would be at the proper height. It also took me longer to hook up the plumbing and drain than it did to put the countertop in place and screw it down.

I am so glad that I'm done with this, as is Kristie.

I finally finished up one of the counter tops for the kitchen. I had to cut a little notch for it to butt up right against the pantry cabinet.

It is finished with one coat of pure and one coat of the maintenance oil to give it more sheen.

It's come a long way since we moved into this house 10 years ago.

There will be a subway tile backsplash and I still have to install the door and drawer handles.

I'm glad that it has taken me a while longer to finish this as it's given me the opportunity to watch professionals like Jesse and learn some great tips as he has been sharing almost every day on the kitchen he's been working on.

I finally sold my Table Saw.

This saw served me well the past 7+ years and even inspired me to make videos on YouTube. My 3-4 minute video on my DIY Rip Fence has over 104k views. Of course that's over the course of 6 years. But the "success" of that one video inspired me to make more videos.

More importantly, this saw taught me to be resourceful in order to get the most out of it. Building a fence, a mobile base and extension wings.

I'm most happy and satisfied, though, that I was able to build quite a few projects for my family and for others using this tool. I hope that the person who bought it will be able to get many more years of use out of it.

Decided to switch to finishing this pantry cabinet before I work on the countertops. The first step is to glue the veneer side panels on it so it can be painted. I spread a layer of wood glue and used every f-clamp I have along with some wood to help distribute the clamping pressure.

These are the same type of cabinets that are in our kitchen already.

When we moved into our house back in 2011, they were all unfinished like this one and we paint them all with a brush. I will be spraying this cabinet which means more prep work in masking the opening so paint doesn't get inside it. Something I've never done before. But I love learning new things like this.

The time has come for me to start finishing these Acacia Countertops from This is 1 of 3 that we bought to go in our kitchen. Luckily there will be a 5' section and 17" section left over for me to use elsewhere in the house.

I'm pretty excited to be using for the first time. I have to give a huge shout out to them. If you go onto their website, you can chat online and they'll answer any questions you have about it. It was super helpful.
