Good Wood Tables

Good Wood Tables Good Wood Tables is a boutique woodworking company in North Yarmouth, Maine. We design and build handcrafted tables to be classic, strong and elegant.

Our tables are built with reclaimed and sustainably harvested wood. The material is always changing and holds a story from its prior life, making every piece we design unique. We work with several different species of reclaimed lumber such as Heart Pine, Cypress, Beech, Sycamore and Birch, to name a few. Using over 100-year-old reclaimed wood, our tables have an instant history. Our tables are sus

tainable and environmentally friendly, protected with VOC-free Oil. Our signature pieces are dinning tables and everyday tables (coffee, sofa/entryway tables). We build custom pieces from kitchen islands to benches and conference tables. We use traditional building techniques, such as hand-cut joinery in our handcrafted furniture, allowing our heirloom pieces to be passed on for generations.

5 years and countless tables, time has come for us to move on. We were proud to be able to build family heirlooms for you home that you’ll be able to pass on to your grandchildren. We have pulled up stakes and moved west, to South Lake Tahoe, CA. Exploring the opportunities here of finding a new workshop and carrying on the tradition of handcrafted, heirloom furniture, built one piece at a time.

Stay in touch, old friends.

12 Foot Long Reclaimed Beech Conference Table

This table was a brute. The top was constructed from 120+ year old Reclaimed Beech, salvaged from a to***co barn in the south. The skirt and legs was made from hand hewn Maple taken from a building in the finger lakes region of New York. It took 6 adults to move it into place. This was constructed for a prior customer and nothing makes me more proud then being asked to do a 2nd project for someone.

Good Wood Tables is not the first to make this statement: “We are in a heritage wave, a series of trends that aim to achieve a pre-digital-era affectation.” It’s a wonderful movement and a great time to be working with reclaimed materials. Deeply ingrained in this movement is the appreciation for quality construction, American made along with a unique set of skills to hone ones craft.

Remember, at Good Wood Tables, we do not use nails, screws nor bolts to put together our tables but the time-honored technique of a Mortis & Tenon joint. Yes, this joint takes time to make and fit together just right, but it’s one of the strongest joints in woodworking. Once we peg that Mortis & Tenon joint it will never loosen up nor come apart. Screws are great for Ikea type furniture, but not for an heirloom piece.

When you are out shopping for a reclaimed wood piece for your home, we suggest you take a deeper dive before you invest, look further than the top, and make sure you examine the underside of the table to see how it is constructed. You shouldn’t find metal corner brackets nor screws. Your grandparents wouldn’t have made it that way and you shouldn’t settle for it either.
