Today we celebrate the hardworking men and women who keep Louisiana moving,especially the loggers, foresters, truck drivers, mill workers, and countless others who help make our forestry industry so special. 💚

From Louisiana’s forests to the mighty oaks of LSU, trees are part of what makes our state,and Game Day in Baton Rouge, so special! 🌳🏈

LSU’s beautiful live oaks have welcomed generations of Tigers to campus, providing shade and creating some of the iconic scenery we all know and love. 💜💛

Today, a couple of our Louisiana Forest Festival board members are trading the piney woods for the mighty oaks and spending their Saturday cheering on the Tigers in Death Valley! 🐯🏈🌲

👑🌲 Our Teen Miss Louisiana Forest Festival Queen has been on the road representing! 🌲👑

Our Teen Queen, Mikalynn had the opportunity to attend the Zwolle Tamale Fiesta Pageant! 💃✨

Mikalynn shared that this appearance was extra special as she watched two young ladies who served on her court last year capture new titles. She also had the chance to support a dear pageant friend as she gave her farewell speech, one of those full-circle moments that makes the festival and pageant community so special. 🥹💚
We are so proud of Mikalynn for continuing to represent the Louisiana Forest Festival with such a sweet heart and for supporting the girls and friendships she has made along the way! 🌲👑

Congratulations to all of the newly crowned queens! We wish you a wonderful year of memories, miles, and making a difference! 💚✨

🎉🐻🌲 HAPPY 82ND BIRTHDAY, SMOKEY BEAR! 🌲🐻🎉

Today we’re celebrating 82 years of Smokey Bear! Since 1944, Smokey has helped teach generations about the importance of preventing unwanted wildfires with his famous reminder:

🔥 “Only YOU can prevent wildfires!” 🔥

Here are a few fun facts about our favorite forest friend:
🐻 A real black bear cub rescued from a New Mexico wildfire in 1950 became the living symbol of Smokey Bear.
📬 Smokey received so much fan mail that he was given his very own ZIP code, 20252!
🎩 His official name is Smokey Bear, not “Smokey the Bear!”
🎙️ Legendary actor Sam Elliott lent his iconic voice to Smokey Bear in a 2019 wildfire prevention campaign, and he and Smokey even share the same birthday, August 9!

Today we celebrate the freedoms we enjoy, the communities we call home, and the hardworking families who help keep America growing, especially those in our forestry community.

As you celebrate with family and friends, please remember to be responsible with fireworks. Dry conditions and one careless spark can quickly turn into a wildfire. Let’s all do our part to help protect Louisiana’s forests for generations to come.

🌲👑 We love seeing our queens out exploring all that Louisiana has to offer!

Recently, Teen Miss Louisiana Forest Festival Queen Mikalynn Thomas spent the day in Zwolle learning about the town’s rich history and visiting several local landmarks, including the old bridge, church, cemetery, train depot, and historic jail.

One of the best parts of being a Louisiana Forest Festival Queen is having the opportunity to learn about the communities, people, and stories that make our state so special. We are so proud of Mikalynn for taking the time to experience and appreciate the history that helped shape Zwolle and our great state.

Keep making us proud, Mikalynn! 💚🌲👑

The Louisiana Forest Festival is incredibly proud of our queen, Lottie Rose, for representing our festival at the Sail 250 New Orleans celebration along the Mississippi River as part of the kickoff to America’s 250th anniversary commemoration! 🇺🇸⚓️

This historic event brought together thousands of sailors and service members from across the world right here in Louisiana, celebrating the history, honor, and unity of our nation. From the tall ships lining the river to the opportunity to meet and thank members of the United States Navy and international crews, this was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We are always honored to see our queen representing the Louisiana Forest Festival and the forestry community at such meaningful events across our state. Thank you, Lottie, for carrying yourself with such grace, professionalism, and pride while representing our festival on such a special occasion! 💚🌲👑

A special thank you to Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor of Louisiana for inviting our queen to be part of such an incredible and memorable event for our state and nation.
