Michael began creating furniture in 2006 and hopes to one day make a living from solely creating his visions. Even though his daytime job is finish work, his real love is building furniture. He enjoys building furniture because of its endless creativity, it requires even more patience and is more detailed oriented than finish work. Michael has always been talented in anything he put his mind to an
d remains committed to any project he begins. Michael is meticulous about details, which is a vital component to finish work and creating furniture. Michael is a Carpenter who performs finish work and is the owner of a small furniture shop, Phoenix Finish Work, where he manufactures and creates his own unique pieces. He currently lives in his hometown of West Suffield, CT where is shop is also located. Michael began carpentry work at the age of 18 after being a machinist for a few years. He fell in love with his career at first touch because he enjoyed the warmth and life that he feels when he works with wood. Michael began his carpentry career framing but soon discovered finish work. He knew that he wanted to pursue finish work from the moment he saw it because of the detail and patience that is required to accomplish it correctly. As a machinist he was working with measurements of 1/1000th of an inch, while carpentry he is working with 1/16th of an inch; which made the transition from machinery to wood very easy for him. In 2006 he decided to try his hand at building furniture and that is when he found his true calling.
