Feb 17th 2022, thats the day Pam came into my studio for her first session. I had read her intake form and wanted more information, so we sat down and talked.
She was healing from trauma. Her body wasn’t responding to life the way she needed it to. She was often in pain, she fatigued easily, she was often emotinal and she was tired of it.
She had tried everything she could think of, many types of massage, excercise ( that wore her out and made her feel worse) nutritional counseling, you name it, she had likely tried it. She was ready to keep trying.
So she stepped onto the mat with me and our journey began. It was slow going at first. Her nervous system was fatigued, even light pressure was painful. Sometimes I would get a text saying “ is it supposed to feel like this?”
As our relationship grew and trust deepened, we dug deeper into how her body worked or wasn’t working, and what the causes were.We tried new things and she did her homework. If I referred her to another practitioner, she went, she did her homework and most importantly she started trusting her body.
A little at a time we saw more small victories and fewer setbacks. She kept doing her homework, she kept eating clean, she kept believing in herself. I kept facilitating and she kept doing the work. For months and months.
She started getting stronger, she fatigued less easily and her pain was easier to manage when it showed up she had a toolbox full of tools to manage it.
Our sessions started to be full of laughter more than working through pain and finding compensation patterns.
And this week when she was checking out she said “ I don’t think I need to come next week, let’s try spacing my appointments out”
THOSE are the moments I live for in my practice. I’ve watched her work SO hard, because she wanted to live in a a strong healthy body. She didn’t quit when it got hard, she didn’t quit when we had set backs and she always did the work.
I just heard from her, and she’s out in the sun raking leaves. When I first met her , that would not have been possible. It is possible to be pain free, it is possible to feel good in your body, you just have to want it!
I love you my friend and I’m so very proud of you!
May you be happy, may you be peaceful and may you be well 🙏
