Today, May 4th, we recognize National Firefighters Day and International Firefighters’ Day.

The Wellsville Fire Protection District would like to thank all of our firefighters—past and present—who have answered the call to serve our community. This job isn’t just about fighting fires. It’s about being there on someone’s worst day, stepping in when others step back, and doing it all for the people we call neighbors.

We also take time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

If you see a firefighter today or tomorrow or anytime, take a moment to say thank you. We’re proud to serve this community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Chief Tyler Beasley, his department, and his community during this difficult time.

It is with profound sadness that the City of New Florence announces the sudden passing of Police Chief Tyler (Ty) Beasley who died on April 30th, 2026.

Chief Beasley faithfully served the New Florence Police Department and this community with dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public safety. Throughout his tenure, he worked tirelessly to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and residents, leaving a lasting impact on our city.

He was not only a respected leader but also a valued colleague, mentor, and friend to many. The loss of Chief Beasley is deeply felt across our police department and the entire community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all members of the City New Florence during this difficult time.

Details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available.

The City of New Florence asks the community to join us in honoring Chief Beasley's life, service, and legacy.

April 12, 2026:

Wellsville Firefighters met this evening for interior search and rescue training. While the photos may show some light from the camera flash, conditions inside were nearly completely dark with multiple obstacles to navigate.

For some of our firefighters, this was their first time experiencing this type of training. It proved to be an eye-opening experience and a strong reminder of just how important continuous training is.

“Rescue Randy,” shown in the photos, is a life-size training mannequin that weighs about the same as an adult. He was donated by the Wellsville Junior Police Department in the late 1990s or early 2000s to assist first responders throughout Montgomery County with hands-on training.

A special thank you to Jeff Zerr and the Montgomery Fire Protection District for refilling our air tanks after training—we truly appreciate the continued support from him and his agency!
