Another day, another set of pocket doors to fix. This is a Japanese system from Sagutsune. It’s supposed to be simple by design. In my opinion it’s over complicated and way overpriced at $800+ for the track alone. The previous carpenters had installed and uninstalled it 5 times before I was called in. Unfortunately, they sheet rocked it in with warped framing and an improper header. The entire wall needed to be taken apart and reframed to get the doors to function properly. There’s better pocket door hardware on the market that’s cheaper and simpler this but isn’t the garbage Johnson kit at your local hardware store. if your pocket door is rubbing or not lining up after install, don’t drywall over it! You won’t have another chance to get it right without demoing the wall, just like this!
