some things are changing around here (again), and i’m really excited about it.

over the past year, i’ve fallen so in love with film. but more importantly, the feeling of creating something that exists beyond a screen, something tangible, and imperfect, and messy.

in a world that’s changing so quickly, i find myself drawn more and more to the things that simply feel human. i think a lot of us are craving that in our own ways.

so, im bringing all of my work under my own name: Molli Ivey.

it feels fitting to let my work grow and evolve alongside me, without needing to fit into one particular box. i’ll be leaning more into film and physical media, and i can’t wait to bring all the different ways i love documenting life together and share it with you.

thank you for being here through all my little pivots and micro-evolutions. your support means more than you know, and i’m so excited for this next chapter. ♡

because i’m sharing film here now, it only feels right to revisit this day.

this wasn’t my first roll, i’d been playing around with film for a bit, but this day in February was the first time i actually felt like i understood what i was doing… or at least, started to trust myself a tiny bit.

these were experimental, way out of my comfort zone, but exactly what i needed to fall in love with this process.

i revisit these often… they’re still some of my favorites for that very reason.

Let’s talk about the Seventh Circuit’s ruling in United States v. Steven Anderegg, No. 25-1354, decided August 25, 2026.

At the beginning of this year, I made the decision to stop posting identifiable photos of children on my personal or photography pages. Recent developments have only reinforced that decision.

In short: the court ruled that, under the federal law at issue, the government could not criminalize the private, in-home possession of obscene AI-generated images depicting fictional children because existing First Amendment precedent protected that material.

The ruling is complicated, it does not mean that using real children’s photos to create sexual abuse material is “legal”, but it does highlight an issue that’s weighed heavily on my heart for a long time.

Once a child’s image is publicly online, we lose control over what someone else can do with it.

For me, that risk is never worth it.

Being transparent, this decision has hurt my business. I don’t book nearly as many children and family sessions as I used to. Children were a much bigger part of my business before I made this change and I miss them. Kids bring another kind of energy to a session that you just can’t get from adults alone.

I still photograph children and I still love love love working with your littles. I just choose to protect their privacy by being much more intentional about what I share publicly.

Children aren’t marketing material. Their privacy and safety will always matter more to me than having another beautiful photo on my feed.

I would rather lose bookings than look back years from now and wish I had been more careful with an image of someone’s child.

This is a choice I made for my business, but more importantly, it’s a choice I made because I believe it’s the right thing to do. 🤍

last post from this gorgeous couple’s session ✨

even after being eaten alive by mosquitos (and leaving with the biggest bites i’ve ever suffered 😅), it’s safe to say this session was more than a success.

we spent an hour running around the garden, chasing good light, and laughing way too much. this is exactly the kind of session i love most a little playful, and a whole bunch of fun. 🤍

so worth so worth the bites… and the hydrocortisone purchase 😂
