Very few times in our lives, something so truly terrifying and incredibly devastating happens to us, and we have a very clear choice: life is ready to take us down, it's ready and waiting, but I really believe if there's someone next to you who you lived more than anything, who you would give anything for, who will not only stay by your side, but allow themselves to be an changed as you- as grateful as you- as elated as you that nothing is worse- as vulnerable and naked as you- as broken as you- and willing to fight as hard as you to recognize what an incredible moment of grace and mercy you've been give.... That in the face of everything you may have feared most, you move mountains with your love.
We are so lucky to have Micah still with us. Car accidents are some of the most insanely real and truly scary realities of our modern life. After two emergency surgeries, two blood transfusions, two MRIs and a three- day induced coma, this beautiful, incredible man walked me to the elevator as visiting hours ended tonight.... After having a breathing tube ripped out of his throat just yesterday morning, and meeting with tons of specialists, therapists, and doctors, plus coming to appreciate nurses more than you ever could, and after lots of excruciating pain and fear, Micah is getting stronger every HOUR. No matter how much the hospital tries to break his spirit and heart, he prevails, and beyond the expectations of anyone.
I am so in love with my beautiful husband Micah Rogers, and we have a true new outlook on life, and I'm just more grateful than I ever thought I could even be.
I'll continue to thank God every day that I get to share with this beautiful man.
We have a long road ahead.... At least 4 months of recovery while his ruptured spleen recovers, But we are desperately desperately grateful that what they thought was two fractured vertebrae and his neck were not actually in fact fractures, just unfortunate concerns on a preliminary and insufficiently captured MRI. And we've been so lucky that a few very close friends and family members have been there to support us through this incredibly terrifying and naturally difficult time.
