I usually stick to refinishing, restoring, or a combination of paint and staining BUT curiosity got the best of me and I decided to try the Pottery Barn Sausalito Dupe finish. I definitely need some practice but I love how it took this very dated Bassett and gave it an updated twist (I also built a new base and changed the hardware). This furniture period often includes laminate tops and while I love letting real wood shine, veneer and laminate often have damage that is easier to patch and paint.

These faux bamboo, Henry Link-style bedside tables were the perfect candidates for a rich peacock green, whole restaining the solid wood bases and making the hardware pop gold.

This commissioned piece was for a local mom who wanted to surprise her daughter with a bedroom makeover when she returns from camp this week.

The turquoise was stripped, sanded, and primed for the newer more sophisticated “Naval” blue and the upper hardware swapped out as well.

Hope she is surprised and excited for her new look!

Yesterday’s Tomorrow just needed a little cleaning, sanding, base removal/leg addition, and a touch of accent paint so the beauty of the wood could shine through
