The pedestal table was one of the most challenging builds ever for me but it allowed me to get creative and have some fun with it!

I posted a lot of the in depth details of this build throughout the process but heres a summed up version of the entire thing. Really puts it into perspective how much work went into it! 😅

I’m so glad this will be the last time I have to fully assemble this massive thing in my shop! 😆 At least I can move it around easily for now!

Hand sanding final grit, applying finish and that’s a wrap on the bed frame! 🙌🏼

Chair repair with the domino and epoxy 👌🏼

Heres how I took advantage of my metal building construction to make strong but temporary shelves 🤙🏼

Not sure if this is a common thing for CNC users but thought it was worth sharing. I set one of my security cameras up to keep an eye on what it was working on in case I need to go in the house for something.

I just set a timer to remind me to check the camera from my phone periodically to make sure it wasn’t causing any mayhem.

It was pretty cool this morning eating breakfast in the house while work was getting done! 🙌🏼

don’t waste money filling your shop with anti-fatigue mats! All you need is two and an old pair of shoes! (patent pending)

First look! This is my favorite part of any build. When all the hard work you put in finally looks like it’s something. Always makes me extremely proud and puts a smile on my face.

I’ve taken my sweet time with this and I don’t plan on rushing anything that’s left. A lot of hand sanding and experimentation with different finishes is still needed so don’t expect to see it “done-done” for a little longer (I really appreciate everyone’s patience that has been following along).

This is for Melissa so it’ll be going in our house, that being said, I can afford to take my time and be a bit more meticulous than I usually am (if that’s even possible 😆)

The jig is up! (and running) 😝

I love it when a plan comes together! Really happy with how well this turned out! I did two light passes on each side of the table (I could’ve lowered the router but wanted the protruding edges to be identical) I then lowered the depth of the bit slightly for a final pass on each side 👌🏼 next up is carefully softening these edges to perfection 😁

I’m adding a decorative channel to the center of the table tops edge that my rabbeting bit can’t quite accomplish. A shaper could get it done I think 🤔 but even then you’d have to bring this massive table to the tool (also I don’t have a shaper 😆). So this is my solution. It’s rock solid, safely glides with the curvature of the table, cost me nothing and was a lot of fun to make! I love problem solving in the shop! 😁 stay tuned to see me put it to use!

Here’s the scale model of my next build. This will be a 10 ft modern white oak table. It’s a little hard to see past the super glued together scrap wood that’s around 1/3 of the size of the real thing, but it’s so nice having the angles figured out and making sure everything looks proportional. There will be a few minor changes that I’m already thinking about but that’s the beauty of a mock up! Really excited to bring this one to life!
