Rough to Finish's, a Licensed Building Contractor, owners Aleta McCleskey, RN and Scott McCleskey, have launched a new service through a company called NC Live Safe, Inc.

NC Live Safe focuses on in-home fall hazard assessments to help adults stay safer and more independent at home. This is not a healthcare service – it’s a professional evaluation of the home environment to identify trip hazards, unsafe layouts, poor lighting, slippery surfaces, and other risks we’ve seen cause serious falls.

At Rough to Finish, we build, repair, and remodel the structure.
NC Live Safe helps identify where small home changes can prevent BIG injuries.

This recent project transformed a complicated, deteriorating, and unsafe staircase into a strong, fresh, and secure structure. We started by removing the dangerous old stairs and addressing the root of the problem with new footers and solid framing. Every step of the rebuild was fully permitted and inspected, ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with building codes.

We’re proud to share one of our latest projects at the stunning Bear Lake Reserve. This high-end lakefront home received a complete exterior upgrade that blends timeless beauty with long-lasting durability.

-Roof Replacement – We removed the old shake shingles and installed premium asphalt shingles for a sleek, durable, and low-maintenance finish.

- Siding Update – The original wood siding was replaced with Hardie board, giving the home a clean, crisp look with exceptional strength and weather resistance.

-Fresh Paint – To complete the transformation, we finished the home in a bright, fresh color palette that highlights the architecture and enhances its lakeside setting.

The result? A home that not only shines with modern elegance but is also built to withstand the elements for years to come.
