Working on a cute lingerie dresser and noticed that this particular piece of walnut at the base is what's called "curly walnut." See the rippled looking grain? It looks 3D, like there are literally ripples on the face of the board, when in reality, it's completely flat. Have only seen it in this spot on this particular dresser, but if you Google it there are some boards that have some amazing ripple patterns in them! 😍

Wish this little spot was more prominent, but it's a fun little detail to notice!

After a much needed break, it's back to work! Today is absolutely gorgeous, 73 degrees and not a cloud in the sky ❤️ This commission set has been a huge learning curve, client wanted as close to original finish as possible, so got the dye stain later drying now, then on to lacquer, toned shellac, and finally clear coat of lacquer. Spraying dye is nothing like spraying paint, you want to mist it rather than spray on a solid layer and I'm constantly fighting my brain to keep it light 😝 Already screwed up and had to sand EVERYTHING back down so fingers crossed my brain catches on and this time is a charm!

I have a TON of projects about to finish up, will start sharing those as they get finished up and posted for sale. So excited!

These sweet little nightstands received a glow-up from boring and beige to moody and modern. They were painted in SW's Iron Ore and the tops stained in a light oak and poly topcoat. The 2 k***s felt too busy so I swapped them out for some simple champagne bronze modern pulls and now they're ready to make their way to their new home!

The before picture is at the end, hoping to pick up the dye and tinted toner tomorrow and start finishing the weekend, while it's like -90 outside. Not sure if fingers will fall off from sanding all the nooks and crannies or hypothermia, stay tuned! 😆

I've got a commission set that requires a little more than just a typical stain and topcoat. Decided to make the almost 2 hour drive to Rockville, MD to Pro Wood Finishes to check out their Mohawk products and bring a couple drawers for them to color match. This will take all of the guesswork (and stress!) out of mixing combinations myself and let me just strip the furniture and then finish it with the products they provide. Pretty excited to see how this works, it took everything I had to leave without buying a bunch of stuff I don't really need right now 😆
