You’d never guess this isn’t a real wood inlay.

This piece started as a standard painted top and was completely transformed using a hand-painted wood illusion technique.

It’s one of my favorite examples of how much impact a custom finish can have — without replacing the entire piece.

If you’ve ever thought about updating your kitchen or furniture without a full remodel, this is exactly the kind of transformation I specialize in.

A client wanted an industrial look for his basement office — but didn’t want to replace this solid wood desk.

So we transformed the finish instead.

Layered paint and custom glazing shifted it from traditional to industrial, while preserving the structure and quality of the piece.

Sometimes you don’t need new furniture.
You need the right finish.

When I see a piece like this, I don’t see “old.”

I notice the joinery, veneer work, and craftsmanship that would cost a fortune to recreate today.

Trends change.

Structure doesn’t.

The structure was solid, but the shiny faux maple finish felt flat and dated.

Using layered paint techniques, I transformed it into a warm walnut wood look — no veneer, no new furniture, just a custom finish designed to elevate the space.

Before ➡️ After

Refinishing isn’t about covering flaws — it’s about enhancing what’s already there.

This leather couch had good bones — the color was just no longer right.

Through careful prep, product and color combinations, client received an updated feel without the updated cost.

This kitchen started with good bones — but nothing matched.

Instead of replacing everything, I:
• refinished the existing cabinets
• modified the sink base to fit a larger apron sink
• poured custom 2-part epoxy countertops
• built molds for a single-piece backsplash
• integrated a tile accent for visual balance

My approach is always about making what you already have work better — functionally and visually.

This is part of my 30 Days / 30 Transformations series with Lustre & Grain Co.

This space needed seating that worked for real life — not something pulled off a shelf.

I designed and built a custom bench and table to fit the layout, flow, and how the room is used day to day.

When original materials fail, design has to lead.

These chairs were rebuilt and refinished — not replaced.

This kitchen came together using two different sets of used cabinets.

I handled the layout math, design, painting, and added crown molding to make everything feel intentional and cohesive.
