Project Spotlight: Some pieces deserve more than new fabric—they deserve a thoughtful redesign.

This charming “Teddy Bear” chair came to us with a back cushion that was permanently attached to the frame. Over time, the cushion had become flat and uncomfortable, with no way to restore its loft. We completely reimagined the design, creating a fully upholstered chair back and a new removable, reversible cushion that can be fluffed and refreshed for years to come.

For luxurious comfort, the new back cushion was filled with a custom blend of down alternative and premium polyfill, creating the perfect balance of softness, support, and sink-in comfort.

The seat received an upgrade as well. The original foam had lost its resilience, so we rebuilt it using our signature Triple Stack Seating System, delivering a plush, supportive sit that feels every bit as beautiful as it looks.

Wrapped in this stunning sculptural fabric and finished with tailored details, this chair and matching ottoman are now ready for their next chapter—offering comfort, character, and a cozy place to curl up with a good book.

Project Spotlight: A Beautiful Heirloom Morris Rocker Gets a Sustainable Makeover

When discussing sustainability in home furnishings, most conversations focus on fabrics. But perhaps the most environmentally responsible choice isn’t the fabric at all—it’s preserving and restoring quality furniture that was built to last.

This Morris rocker is a perfect example.

Originally crafted in the Arts & Crafts tradition, this chair represents a level of craftsmanship rarely found in today’s mass-produced furniture. Its solid oak construction, sculpted arms, spindle details, and reclining mechanism have allowed it to serve generations of owners while retaining both its beauty and functionality.

For this project, our client wanted to refresh the chair while remaining mindful of sustainability. Rather than replacing a perfectly good piece of furniture, they chose to invest in new custom cushions upholstered in an eco-friendly fabric.

The selected textile features a subtle herringbone weave that complements the rich oak frame while adding a fresh, updated look. The neutral palette allows the natural beauty of the woodwork to remain the star of the show, while the tailored cushions provide renewed comfort and support.

Careful attention was paid to preserving the chair’s original character, including the classic button tufting and piping details that define the Morris chair aesthetic. The result is a seamless blend of old and new—timeless craftsmanship paired with contemporary sustainable materials.

This project beautifully illustrates an often-overlooked truth about sustainability:

The greenest furniture is frequently the furniture you already own.

By restoring a well-built piece rather than replacing it, homeowners reduce landfill waste, conserve resources, and preserve the craftsmanship of another era.

More than a century after the Morris chair first became a symbol of comfort and quality, this restored rocker is ready for many more years of family heritage and beautiful memories to be made. Pieces like this are a lovely reminder that thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship never go out of style.
