I had the pleasure of watching this baby blossom to the stunning vacation home that she is!

If you have a vision and just need help with “yes or no”, a designer can provide you that sense of security or look at a room with a fresh eye! Also access to vendor discounts 😉

We were allowed 3 paint colors to work with as per the contract with the builder. My favorite was running to each room creating a balancing act in my head to make sure we didn’t over do one color on a single floor.

Paint Colors were all
🌊 City Loft
🌊 White Dove
🌊 Portsmouth

My next favorite part was choosing tile patterns and I had the luxury of picking three different patterns and colors! Wait.. maybe it was four 😂

Sticking with a central blue/teal theme throughout your space can offer continuity, cohesive feelings and above all being remembered!

Other details include the two chandeliers over the long expansive dining table where everyone can join together for a meal. This long and narrow room needed a balance of two chandeliers and I couldn’t have been happier with how that turned out.

Something I can’t take credit for- that view! Also, the clients worked with to furnish the house perfectly.

So much to dive into with this project!

Backstory! So my clients had this fabulous bonus room the size of their garage. The conundrum… was the space was only accessible through the primary bedroom.

How do we turn this space into something functional? Clients had some needs such as an office space and a library but they needed help with ex*****on and cohesiveness from their bedroom. The vibe was something moody, dark but not overwhelming, warm and welcoming.

My first initial thoughts were- wow we have so much space, we can use 1/3 of this for two walk in closets for him and her. Originally to get into the space, there was a small door and you stepped down about 6”. To make the closets more cohesive to the bedroom my idea was to
A. Widen the door frame
B. Keep the closets the same level as the bedroom and THEN do the step down. So we had contractors create a platform and step about 8’ into the space.
C. Keep the already existing wood floors from the bedroom and carry them into the new space.

Now for cohesiveness. If you are bold, love explosion of color, color dredging is for you and this space made it SO easy with the low ceilings. The dredge of Van Deusen from Benjamin Moore gave this space the look we were going for.

For added character, we added picture frame molding and carried the same motif into the primary bedroom as well to add to the cohesiveness that this is one space now.

Because the ceilings in the bonus space angle down, I drew up measurements for custom bookshelves so that they also flowed with the shape of the room. Seeing them in person was an absolute dream.

My clients desire for vintage, warm, cozy, and moody (all of the adjectives) made it so fun for me to grow as a designer and have a new appreciation for color. This project was so much fun!

A complete transformation!

This bathroom gained additional space taken from the closet to square off the room so we could boast a 132” vanity with double storage towers 💫

By getting rid of the original whirlpool bath, a corner freestanding tub left room for a bigger shower with hidden niches and bench.

This warm, inviting bathroom boasts warm tones, luxury Taj quartz and along with other hidden details such as:

- diamond pattern flooring from
- Chrome, contrasting finishes
- Inset custom doors
- Wallpaper accent walls
- Luxury lighting

Because boys get cool rooms too!

Things I do miss about the old house. My son’s amazing green planked ceiling.

He traded for a “black” room. I half obliged on that. He got the same headboard as his sister but in his color of choice!

A bathroom these boys can grow into! The bones of this bathroom has a flocked, speckled tile that has a variety of greens. We ran it stacked and followed it up the ceiling to elongate the shower. Complimenting the green theme, we found a green vanity cabinet. The basketweave floor tile (my new favorite) is a perfect, neutral tile that gives off a modern take to an “old-charm” style. Black accents are in the shower fixtures to compliment the black in the floor tile. We also went thin and modern for the recessed mirror and lighting above! If you ask the boys their favorite part, you can bet it’s the dinosaurs! 🦕 🦖
