I am starting another project. A dining room table for our Squammish BC property. Goal was to build a 10' live edge table. What I found was a 13' slab of black walnut, 3" thick. I will cut it down where I need to, but do want to make it as large as is practical for the house. This slab itself weighs over 500 lbs. It is going to be fun flipping it. It is so large I could not fit it in my woodworking garage so I am going to do this project in my automotive garage / machine shop. I did find another use for my hydraulic hoist. It is going to be easy to lift it up and down as I need to.

I have finished my miter saw bench. I am still debating if I should build doors for the upper cabinets or just leave them open. The bench is now my favorite project spot in my woodworking shop.

I made some good progress today making and I stalling drawer fronts for my miter saw. I am going to love having places for everything in my shop instead of hunting down where I last used anything. These drawer fronts are maple and walnut. I wanted a good horizontal accent and I also wanted to avoid metal hardware that could get caught on my pants. These are European style cabinets with 2mm tolerance between all edges. I think the result is nice and clean.

We are making great progress on the miter saw bench. Next step is upper cabinets then maple doors and drawers.

A vacuum bed is great for working with sheets of plywood and MDF but doesn't scale down to small projects. So my first CNC job is to build a small project holder and why not do that with the CNC! I have 200 5/16" T-nuts on the underside so I can easily secure any holddown clamps. This allows me to quickly and easily secure stock easily against two rails and get a stable origin point. This should speed up the operations part of all my projects. Since the rails were cut with the CNC they are perfectly aligned to the CNC X and Y axis, which will make it much easier to do many projects that also need accurate edges.

The first project on my CNC is making some small project hold down tools, starting with some cam clamps. I can't believe how accurate this machine is. I completely cut through my material and you can't see a scratch on the underlaying spoil board.

This was the left over piece from a larger maple slab developed into a fireplace mantle. This piece fit perfectly as a shelf in my kitchen nook.
