An original drawing using ink markers transformed into digital art using a photography app. The art reflects an abstract view of the world that is magical to the eyes. I like the vibrant colors and the sweet bees and flowers in this photo. Suitable for a babies nursery or as a gift to your favorite....

About Simi Valley Bees

t all began when Matt was a little boy and wanted to bring bees into his house. His mom would not let him. Then flash forward to when he was twenty four. I walked into his life, and his first manly line to me was, “Do you want to see my bug collection?” Of course I didn’t. I thought he was hot and geeky. This was terribly confusing so all the way home I was giggling in the back seat because I wanted to kiss the boy. My roommates, who had brought me over to meet Matt, of course arranged for us to go out on a date. And they told him! Twenty five years later we are still together. We have three great kids, and now that we are empty nesting we have thousands of pet bees. No one please call animal services on us for the hoarding of animals. LOL Why hasn’t anyone thought of that cheesy joke?

Many questions people ask me about the honey we have to sell. Here are my best answers! Oh boy. 1. Question: "When can we come and get the honey?" Answer: We are open Monday through Saturday. Not on Sundays. We sell honey by appointment only through my cell phone. My cell phone number is 805 404-4955. Please don't message me through Face Book. It's awful. The messenger service gets lost on my cell phone. 2.Question: Where are we located and how do we get there? Answer: We sell our honey from our house. Our house is located at 2125 Magnolia St. in Simi Valley. It is off Sycamore Street. Take Brower Street or Larch Street. It is three streets in. 3. Question: Is the honey pure? Answer: This may sound stupid, but I have no idea. It is raw, unfiltered, local, and it comes from European bees in our Apiary. If it was pure then it would be pasteurized. We try very hard to stay away from pesticides. That may also sound like a stupid comment. However, pesticides quickly kill out all the bees in an apiary. We learned this hard lesson when in our first year about 90% of our apiary was wiped out from what we believe was a combination of Verrora Mites, beginner bee keeping mistakes, and pesticides. If you want to elicit swear words from a beekeeper mention pesticides and beekeeping in the same conversation. Many consumers are very concerned about this issue. By the way, we register our bees with the Ventura Agriculture Commissioner. They call us when they are going to spray with pesticides. We also stay in close touch with our orchard owner, Lance. He immediately lets us know when they are going to spray for pesticides in his orchard. 4. Question: Where is the honey produced? Answer: In the last two years we have moved our hives to where they are now in the Simi Valley area in the Rancho Conejo Community Park wilderness area around Tapo Canyon area (Buckwheat and Wild Flower), to the Somis Orchards (for Orange and Lemon orchards), to Carpenteria (for Avocados), to Ojai (Wild Flower), etc. We are committed to keeping our hives local. We always are interested in people who have agriculture land that is larger than 3 acres, that is zone agriculture or has an agriculture overlay. Please oh please do not message us if you have land in a mobile home park (true story) or if this land is close to kids or swimming pools. If you have any other questions. Please message us. Thanks, Simi Valley for being great customers! Linda Brown
