We have been looking for a planter to get a few veggies and herbs growing in our basement while we wait for the weather to break. The planter arrived in a sturdy box that ensured that the inside contents would be received in great condition. Once the parts were inventoried, I got started putting the planter together. I was Very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of all pieces. Once I reviewed the instructions, I had the planter together in short order. It’s a very good looking unit and one that should be displayed. The 2x2 planter took around 6 gallons of top soil and 2 small bags of seed starter soil. This got the soil level just below the midline of the box.

We are looking forward to our seedlings to grow and enjoy some homegrown veggies and herbs.

Just finished putting some plants in my brand new garden bed and let me tell you, I'm excited. The order shipped right away and arrived right to my front door a couple days later. My family didn't know what was in this big box that had turned up, and they were a little confused when I opened it up, but I'll tell you what, the smell of that fresh cedar that greeted our noses made everybody stick their heads down and take a big whiff. Everything was packaged well in either cardboard or an individual plastic bag, no loose parts floating around.
Assembly was a breeze, although I would say its easier with an assistant. I'd rate the effort involved in assembly somewhere between building Swedish furniture and re-wiring the innards of a Les Paul. You'll need your own drill but that's it for special equipment.
After that it was just a matter of planting, which is the same as any garden box. Then you can pop the top off the water indicator pipe, fill it up, and watch the plants grow! I came out this morning and the self watering feature appeared to be working flawlessly: The dirt was all damp and I didn't need to add any additional water. Can't wait for fresh herbs and peppers soon!
