Life is great when you have wonderful neighbors that appreciate your craft. These custom cherry night stands were requested about 2 years ago while I was selling cutting boards at a local farmers market. I didn't have the time back then to take on the project, but my neighbor was patient, and boy am I glad she was. These night stands turned out better than I could have imagined!

I am clearing out all of my old inventory to make way for new opportunities. My dream was never to have a business based on selling cutting boards, or cheese slicers. I have always had a desire to try building new, and more challenging pieces. These cutting boards and cheese slicers were a stepping stone to allow me to afford new machines and equipment so that I can try new projects. So now it is time to sell off what I have left and to let this part of my business ride off into the sunset.

This project was a couple years in the making, but I finally got it across the finish line a couple months ago. What was originally supposed to be a dresser for my wife and I became a credenza after realizing a dresser didn’t fit our lifestyle. Being my first piece of furniture, and in many ways you can tell, I am so proud of the learning that came along the way. For me, this is so much more valuable than a perfect piece of furniture.

Here sits a project that started about 2 years ago, which was supposed to be a house warming gift for my wife and me. I’ve finally been able to work on what was originally going to be a dresser designed by , but instead will be a credenza which will be used as a TV console in our living room. I’ve learned a lot about my craft from the time I started this project until now. This project will definitely be a piece that truly embodies the growth I have had since I started this journey. It has been a while since I last posted. I’ve been taking a break from woodworking to spend time with my wife. But the market season starts this weekend, so it was time to dust off the tools and make something, and I finally got around to creating something for myself. I’ve been needing an adjustable sit-stand desk for a while to help maintain a healthier lifestyle. What a year 2023 was! I started my small business and met the goals I set out for myself. Reflecting back on the year, I am proud of what I’ve accomplished. I didn’t set out for this adventure to replace or even supplement my current income, but to fund a hobby I enjoy doing. I am a software engineer for my day job, so sitting at my desk all day makes me want to do things with my hands and do some creative hard work. This year I think I achieved that. I outfitted my shop with new equipment, sold dozens of cheese slicers many cutting boards, often with custom engravings for wedding gifts, many whiskey smokers and quite a few commission pieces. God has been gracious this year and it wasn’t always easy. There were many events I went to where sales were very low or nonexistent. But I persevered and now looking back on my sales numbers, it’s hard to believe how well things went this year considering how little time I have available to commit to this business. I am so thankful for everyone who shopped with me this year. Here’s to 2024. Time to set new goals!
