If you consider yourself an artist then this deserves a listen. McKenna, if you’ve never heard of him, was an ethnobotanist and probably one of the most underrated and influential people of modern society

What can an ethnobotanist teach me about art and what makes him so influential?

This clip(from 1990) contains the earliest use of the word “meme” that I have found outside of Carl Jung who reportedly invented the word pre1950. The second earliest use I’ve heard, also McKenna, was given in a lecture at Berkley in 1992

Give this a listen and you will begin to understand how that quote, memes, and artists all intersect in this present moment. This can help you place yourself within art as a whole and as a movement
