I’m moving ahead with the big hand gesture piece, but I need your help. Craft Lake City is hosting this outdoor galley with a local museum and they have initiated a Kickstarter.com fundraising campaign to help reimburse the twelve participating artists. Kickstarter.com raises money by offering various rewards to those who back the project. Explore the link below and watch the short video. I’m excited to be selected to build an installation for an outdoor exhibit this summer. We will be creating a walk-able street gallery over a few blocks of downtown SLC. I plan to create a system of concrete discs suspended from wires to form a stylized, halftone representation of a traditional Buddhist gesture. Watch for it this July.

I’m hoping you can help.
Over the next month I’ll be making several household-furnishing items to sell this summer. My first piece will be the Great Salt Lake Shaker. A small white model of the Great Salt Lake for your dinning table – filled with table salt. It would be nice to have a pepper partner, but I can’t come up with a worthy pepper equivalent to the Great Salt Lake. Can any of you think of a pepper place name (Pepper Island …) or a geographic place connected to pepper or the spice trade that would compliment Great Salt Lake Shaker. Thank you for your help.

I am excited to begin work on a new season of smaller (and not so heavy) concrete pieces. I’m planning to experiment with the integration of succulents, mosses and lichens into some of these works. Check back to see how these pieces turn out.
