After I parked in the driveway for a new client consult, I checked my phone and saw a text from the new client. She was kind enough to ask if I was ok with their 70-lb dog being part of our meeting. “I love dogs!” I replied. And he certainly is a sweet boy. My job is to create an enjoyable space for all who live in the home, our canine companions included. As I source for this couple’s bedroom, I get to find a perfect chair for this sweet dog to relax, too. How fun to meet this couple and share dog stories along with decorating ideas!

My client signed off on this custom window design, which means it’s go time! The design coordination phase is where the client gets to relax and anticipate her room transformation while I manage all the details of ordering, tracking, vendor/sub logistics, and communication. I’m so excited to see this design transform her bedroom and the smile on her face when the concept becomes reality.

I think it’s pretty fitting that I’m finishing up the Window Design Plan to create a in my client’s living room. This west wall contains an expanse of glass, so the afternoon sun streams in with almost unbearable glare and heat. My solution is a wall of modern ripplefold draperies on a sleek black traverse rod. The benefit of traversing draperies is the ability to move the fabric panels across the windows and doors when the sun’s rays are most oppressive. Then, the client can slide the panels back into place for the remainder of the day to take advantage of her beautiful view.

While sunglasses are a fabulous accessory, my job as a window treatment expert is to alleviate the need for you to wear them indoors! 😎Happy everyone!

Working in my home office today, I’m celebrating the start of my favorite season by wearing my fun floral tee and (favorite!) lightweight coral hoodie. While this may not appear to have anything to do with interior design, I want to share with you an insider tip for your interior.

If your decor could use a refresh, look to your closet for inspiration.

* What colors do you enjoy wearing?

* How do you add your personality to a neutral outfit? (a special necklace, a bold-hued blazer, that pair of funky shoes)?

* Which pieces of clothing do you look forward to rotating in this season?

Infuse the same unique style into your interior.

Change things up a bit.

Choose a springtime color you love wearing and look for decor in the same hue.

And just like my lightweight hoodie, the decor needs to fit your lifestyle. My appointment day outfits look different than my in-office attire. The rooms in our home should reflect the activity and aesthetic vibe we want to feel in the space.
