What does this mean for RON?

🚨Trump signed Executive Order 14393, "Promoting Access to Mortgage Credit," on March 13, 2026. [1, 2]

Key Details of the Executive Order

The directive specifically aims to modernize mortgage processes and reduce homebuying timelines by instructing major housing and federal finance agencies to embrace digital real estate tools. [3]

* Federal Scope: The order targets the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).

* Digital Mortgage Modernization: Section 7 of the executive order directs these agencies to expand digital mortgage standards and eliminate unnecessary pen-and-ink ("wet signature") requirements for disclosures, closing documents, and applications.

* Remote Online Notarization (RON): The order explicitly instructs agencies to look into standardizing the acceptance of electronic signatures, e-notes, and remote online notarization for government-backed loan programs to lower lending costs.

* Broader Framework: Alongside digitization, the executive order serves a broader push to reduce regulatory compliance burdens originating from the Dodd-Frank Act, prioritizing relief for community and regional banks to make mortgage credit more available. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
