A wobbly, stained or just plain ugly dining chair seat is not a life sentence. 🪑

Slip Seats with Jonathan Bennett & Mimi Nowaskey
Jan 15–16 · Richmond

No sewing or upholstery experience needed. You'll build a simple flat seat and a webbed seat with a boxed cushion from scratch, and learn the padding and fabric-tension tricks that make a seat look professionally done instead of homemade. Use our stock fabric, bring your own, or pick something from our remnants.

Off-the-shelf shades are made for a standard window. Yours probably isn't one. 🪟

Roman Shades: Level I with Susan Woodcock
Dec 4–5 · Richmond

Learn to measure the window, figure the yardage and fold lines, and sew a Roman shade that fits like it was made for the spot, because it was. You'll even make a blackout version, and the lift systems are included. Bring your face fabric, or pick something from our remnants.

Forget the candy aisle. This Halloween, the best treats come by the yard. 🍂

The Girl Scouts Fabric Remnant Sale is Saturday, Oct 31, 9am–1pm, here at Unsprung. Dig through remnants and designer samples, many starting at just $1/yard. Every dollar goes to local Girl Scout Troops 750 and 980.

Bring a bag, a project idea, and a friend who "doesn't need any more fabric." Cash or check preferred.

Fair warning: pillows are how it starts. 🛋️

First it's a throw pillow with welt that runs dead straight and a zipper nobody can find. Next thing you know, you're eyeing the sofa.

If industrial sewing machines have always looked a little intimidating, this is where that ends. They're easier than you think. Bring fabric you love, or pick something from our remnants. We'll supply the machine, the pillow forms and the tools.
