My custom birdie arrived today! I designed an entire headboard around this little fellow, with shutters and moulding. Now if I can just decide exactly how to paint it. My daughter Addy started a piece the other night and I think it's gorgeous! She had planned to paint some abstract tulips but got sidetracked with the pallet knives. Sometimes "playing" and experimenting inspires fantastic pieces. I think she should call it "Forget the Tulips" lol

A few before and after pics of some cabinets I just remodeled. The client is selling or renting the home so she wanted a viable option to update the kitchen without replacing cabinets. I asked the contractor to add large portions of crown moulding at the top to dress them up. (Before, it was flush with the ceiling with a tiny flat edge.) We also removed a few doors and left an open section to create a display area with wainscoting over the stovetop for interest. Love the black with the countertops. From simple and plain to dressy French country for a fraction of the cost of all new cabinets.

I have to confess, ...I get a wee bit attached to certain pieces and this one was a little hard to let go of today. I named her "Gypsy" and she was designed for a beautiful young lady with a great eye for things with Bohemian flair. Had so much fun designing it because it really resonated with my own personal style...she will always be a little dear to my heart. I love meeting a kindred spirit and it's even more special to design for them. Thanks Melanie and Jessica for having so much faith in this "Hippie Chick"!!!
