Carved an Eagle for a Corpsman I served with in Afghanistan in 2005, Doc G. He has to be the funniest corpsman in the corps!
I first met him on a convoy. We reached our destination and dismounted I saw him laughing and asked what is going on? He pulled out an officers rifle that the barrel was so bent it could shoot around corners! The officer he was driving with had the muzzle sticking out of the humviee and a passing local jingle truck caught it and bent it. He was laughing so hard I couldn’t help but laugh! well one of many a funny stories, thanks Doc!

Had a good ceremony in Rolla ND American legion. The Eagle is at its home amongst the ND veterans and family members. Want to thank all that helped to put this together, especially James and Carol.

Also want to say thanks to James Mcain who founded Eagles for Veterans. He has carved and donated many many Eagles to numerous Veterans organizations from cemeteries, hospitals and VFW’s. Across the States. Due to medical issues has had to stop carving Eagles but continues to donate to veterans with other types of woodworking.
I’m glad to have participated in your vision.

Getting ready to head up to ND end of sept to see my niece and nephew and donate an Eagle to Rolla ND VFW.

Finished the hand carved 4’ Eagle in the style of John Bellamy. Getting ready for the gilding and paint. Will be donated to a VFW in North Dakota later this year.
