An update: Hi there, Ben from Franktuary. I apologize for the radio silence.
I wanted to take a moment and answer some questions we’ve been receiving.
𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫?
In short, the truck is not running this year.
As some of you may know, midway through our busiest time last year the engine caught fire on the highway. The team reacted fast and were not injured, but the engine, however, needed entirely replaced, effectively ending our season early.
After finally receiving the truck back in the winter months with a brand new engine, it was stolen right from under our noses earlier this year. We went through the legal system to recover it, however, the truck was critically damaged yet again in the theft and needed repair.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤?
Contrary to rumor, no, the truck was not repossessed during the unfortunate closing of another business. The former owners owned the truck outright, and I’ve owned it outright since the end of 2023.
Swipe right for the proof. For you loyal fans, that photo and posing with today’s Trib isn’t for you. It’s to help set the record straight amongst the wild west that is the internet.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐔𝐩 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?
The airport location closed during the Pandemic. They had no interest in us re-opening.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲?
Full transparency, we’re likely going to be selling the truck.
Yeah, I know after all of that, selling the truck? Ridiculous, right? No.
I fell in love with Franktuary in Lawrenceville when it was a brick and mortar. I grabbed Franktuary when it was for sale out of love for the brand and the good times I had back then.
No discredit to any of the legacy of the truck, but I strongly believe Franktuary is best served out of a brick and mortar with a full menu. Looking to the future, that is the direction we’re pursuing.
We don’t have a timeline at the moment. As we continue our planning, we may continue to be a bit sparse on social media, and we appreciate your patience.
We hope to see you again soon.
