This buffet belonged to my own Gram, and I recently acquired it after a house clean out when my uncle passed away. While I don’t have a place for it in my own house, unfortunately, I knew I could fix it up to be a special piece for someone else! It had great bones, but it needed a little cosmetic TLC. I painted the base with Dixie Belle’s all-in-one (primer/paint/sealer) in the color Anchor. The top was sanded, stained, glazed to give it a nice warm tone, and then sealed with a few coats of glossy poly. There is a longer drawer on the top, four other drawers, and two doors that open up to additional storage. One side is completely open and the other side has a shelf. The drawers were lined with a pretty, removable wallpaper, and new gold hardware was added. The drawers were built with dovetailed construction, and the buffet sits on its original wheels, so it’s pretty easy to move it (but don’t be fooled; she’s heavy and you’ll need help to load it). It measures: 49”wide x 33”tall x 18 1/2” deep. Price: $185 plus tax. It’s available at Schoolhouse Antiques, 103 N. College St, Palmyra PA 17078. Hours: 10-5 Wednesday through Sunday (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). Booth #76, Antique & Shabby Chic, lower level.
