After Doug passed away a local community farm gifted us with a CSA ... what an amazing blessing.

We have been lucky to continue to receive some gifts with winter boxes ... I try and look up some recipes to use up the food.

Tonight I will be making sweet potato ham corn chowder ...

I will let you know how it turns out and will share the recipe.

It has been one thing that I realize I like to do and that is cho veggies and cook up some good food for myself and my girls ❤

Christmas this year is a little different at our house. A lot different. We are all for the most part getting through. We decorated the tree and the house to help us feel in the spirit.

It was actually enjoyable and we completely got to decorate anyway we wanted and there was no having to compromise .. if there is an 'upside' to death that may be one thing.

Our tree this year went red, white, gold and touches of silver. I love Santas and so I pulled out as many santa clauses I could find and then purchased a couple here and there at some local thrift stores. I love vintage Christmas items.

LOVE them.

I found my itty bitty stash of ornaments that hung on my grandma's tree ❤

We're trying to be as festive as we can.

Like most people I live a 'busy' life so when simplicity comes along I relish in that ...

Christmas presents will be passed out and given and received ...

Giving is not a problem for me but finding the perfect gift is. I always want something to be meaningful, maybe a little unexpected ... I never seem to hit it just right.

I have a friend who calls those types of gifts 'zingers' the ones where you know the person so well that you have no problem just knowing they will love their present ... you give them a zinger!

I love that!!!

I had one of these tug boats when I was girl ... these types of gifts would be a 'zinger' ❤

I love the simplicity of this little white drop leaf table and 2 chairs ... in the beautiful natural state. Sometimes you just need to let things be just as you found them. A wipe down is all that she really needed .. for me anyway.

It's set for 2 right now with some simple wreath designed plates, an awesome cast iron griddle tray, restaurant ware auj jus style dipping bowls, some baubles, some forested earthy goodness a couple wreaths and dollar store snowflakes.

Hello everyone.

I think most of you that like this page are probably, most likely friends with me either in person or at least on my personal page.

It's been not quite a year since I have posted on here. I am not exactly sure if it's really been that long since I have painted a piece of furniture, but almost, maybe, since I have really enjoyed picking up a paint brush and just loving it.

I am hoping to get back at it soon, hoping, fingers crossed and God willing to be able to just continue to move forward with an extreme amount of projects for this business, my store business (The Looking Glass) and a new venture I am starting, House of Girls.

Our family of 6 suddenly became a family of 5 last January. January 26th to be exact. Doug passed away unexpectedly on our kitchen floor and was revived I think possibly 6 times. It's been an extreme rollercoaster. He is my hero. With only a 1% chance, he became an organ donor. Hero, for sure.

It's now just me and the girls making a life for ourselves. Trying to make a new life.

I am hoping to get to pick up a paint brush again and to turn this page into a tutorial area (which I have always wanted to do in the beginning) but to also use it as an outlet to sell some of my great farmhouse auction finds as well as farmhouse chic, a little lumber jack style, a little woodsy, some rusty, peeling paint, and everything farmhouse love.

Please bare with me/us as we continue to navigate and navigate this new page ❤

Umm... has it really been since October that I have completed a project?? That cannot be true ... but maybe 😳

Well I am finish out the year with completing SOMETHING!
