Brewer, Maine. Summers in Maine can mean lazy, hazy days at the beach, traveling across the state, enjoying tasty food at picnics and cook-outs, watching 4th of July parades and fireworks, and strolls in the park.
Summer is also a terrific opportunity to gather as a community. On Sunday, July 27, 2014, at 10 am, St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church of Brewer cordially invites its neighbors and members of the community to join them for an outdoor worship service at Brewer Auditorium and Doyle Field. The Reverend Rick Cross will be our celebrant for that Sunday’s worship service. Bring your folding chairs, blankets and something to share at the potluck picnic that will follow.
St. Patrick’s has held its annual outdoor service for the last several summers. This will be the first time that it has been celebrated at Doyle Field in Brewer.

St. James hosted another successful Fourth Friday Community Supper in July. We had a very large crowd and just enough food. Many thanks to all who brought food, drinks, and desserts, and those who came to help with clean up. Again this month, a special thank you to our summer visitors, Diana and Bernie, who contributed food and help. Also, thank you to Father Dick who said Grace and visited with our guests, and to Gina for the beautiful flowers on the tables.

St. James' next community supper will be Friday, August 23, at 6:00 in the Undercroft. We are having a cookout with grilled hot dogs on buns, condiments, baked beans, cole slaw, desserts, and drinks.

O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works; that rejoicing in thy whole creation, we may learn to serve thee with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were made, thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer, p. 814, Prayers, #1 for Joy in God's Creation.
