This summer we embarked on a project with the hopes of bringing imagery, murals and images that are uplifting, positive, empowering and reflective of our school community to the hallways of Monroe.
After many meetings and incredible work by our teachers Ms. Sayles-Hutch and Ms. Musgrave, Mr. Thomas, Rev Chambers (North Tulsa Education Task Force), Arts Alliance Tulsa, Nancy McDonald (North Tulsa Education Task Force), Victor Grimes (Monroe Alumni Association) and Teresa Valero (Director, School of Art Design and Art History) our committee have selected our first round of artists that will be working with our students, parents and community members to create a lasting mural around our core values.
We are so thankful to our partners from Arts Alliance Tulsa and the Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation for their support.
Our first artist spotlight is Ms. Lucinda Jones! We are excited to give our students, families and community the opportunity to work with such a talented and amazing artist as Ms. Jones and create lasting imagery on the walls of Monroe.
