As of Saturday night, August 15 , the Pine Gulch Fire is 76,183 acres and 7% contained. During the afternoon, the fire burned very actively in the Garfield Mesa area located in the southwestern portion of the Pine Gulch Fire. Large air tankers were frequently used on the fire today. As a result of fire behavior and growth in the Garfield Mesa area, staffing will be increased there tomorrow. There will be heavier fire vehicle traffic on the roads in that area and the public is advised to be cautious while driving.
Winds are expected to be out of the northeast in morning shifting to northwest in the afternoon. Gusts up to 20 mph are possible.
