MattesonCreations We are a husband and wife team combining his over 25 years of woodworking knowledge and experience with her love for color and fun designs.

MattesonCreations is a by product of two people’s passion for fine wood work and artistic home decorations. Influenced by his grandfather who taught woodworking for most of his life, Joel began working as an apprentice in a small furniture refinishing and repair shop in Clear Lake, Iowa over 15 years ago. The job consisted mostly of laborious tasks such as sanding, sanding, and sanding! As Joel’s

skills improved he learned that the real enjoyment was from the designing and creating of products that people couldn’t buy in stores. After Joining the Air Force, Joel continued woodworking out of a small garage converted shop where he finished, refinished and repaired furniture as well as building new when ever time allowed. Joel met his wife Erin on a military deployment in 2004, and the two have been creating together ever since; combining his skills with her vision. Now settled in Texas, Joel and Erin enjoy a home filled with custom made furniture and decorations. Joel and Erin have a completely equipped woodworking shop and craft room located in their which is perfect for entertaining friends and family. Guests in the Matteson home continuously commented on the furniture, picture frames, shelves, welcome signs ... even the kitchen utensils. The question was always, “Where did you find this?” and the answer was always, “We made it.”

After much encouragement from friends and family, MattesonCreations was born. The concept is very simple; create 100% hand made items that will last decades and will liven up any home, office or patio. MattesonCreations not only offers a unique line of hand crafted items, but also encourages people to turn their own idea into a reality. The beauty in having every single item hand made is that most any material, design and color combination is possible. Having something unique that is one of a kind always intrigues others and sparks great conversation. We have fun and grow together working on new creations and enjoy enabling others in turning their house into a warm, welcoming home with a personal touch.
