Kicked off Music Biz last week with the panel Artists Who Build Brands Build Fans alongside of .better, and and from the team.

Key themes throughout the conversation were authenticity, values, and building real connection with fans by being open and intentional about who you are as an artist.

Here, our Founder answers an audience question about where to start if you’re still figuring out your brand.

Working with a graphic designer can actually help clarify your brand beyond just visuals. A good designer will guide you through questions around your values, inspirations, personality, and the overall feeling you want to put into the world. That process often helps artists better understand the core elements they want their brand to communicate both visually and emotionally.

Thanks again and !

The Band of Horses merch table last week was one of the best we’ve seen lately.

👀 Spotted at the show and had to share:

☑️ On brand
☑️ Variety of items and price points
☑️ Wearable logo staples (an easy yes for fans)
☑️ Clean, organized display

If you’re planning merch for tour, this is a solid checklist ☑️

Great example of a strong merch strategy in action👏

Live shows remain the most powerful conversion moment in an artist’s career.

Fans are emotionally invested, present, and ready to support artists and their brands.

Merch is where that fan energy turns into revenue, brand loyalty, and long-term fan connection.

When merch is planned and tracked consistently, patterns emerge:

• Strong markets reveal themselves
• Reorders become intentional
• Tours scale with fewer surprises
• Merch becomes a feedback loop

We created a playbook to help accomplish this.

Comment “Tour” and we’ll send you the Tour Merch Planning Playbook. 📚

Austin, we’re coming back!! 🙌🎸

SXSW is almost here, and we’re excited to have our founder returning as a mentor for the third year in a row.

After sharing a preview of what’s next at Merch Cat, including our upcoming Luminate integration, this year feels especially meaningful.

If you’re a manager, artist, or industry partner heading to Austin and want to talk tour season, merch, or reporting, let’s connect.

Drop a 🎤 or DM us to set up time. See you at SXSW 🤘

We’ve been sitting on this for a minute… and it feels good to finally share fresh off Grammy Week!

📈 The Merch Cat team spent a good part of 2025 working with Luminate operations to build the capability to report live show physical music sales so those sales can count toward official music industry charts - primarily Billboard

💪 It’s not something every artist needs — but for artists who choose to report, it matters.

🗓️ Our Luminate reporting workflow is complete, approved by Luminate operations, and queued up for final onboarding, with availability expected in Q2 2026.

🎤 We’re looking forward to giving artists and their teams another option for live show physical music reporting — built directly into their live show merch workflow.

This week, we had the privilege of visiting Daniel’s Music Foundation in East Harlem — a truly special place providing free inclusive music programs for individuals with disabilities. 🎶💙

DMF was founded after Daniel, then 12, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and fell into a coma. Music became a key part of his healing and recovery, inspiring his family to create a community where everyone can experience the power of music.

Beyond touring their vibrant, accessible facility, we spent time brainstorming how merch can help amplify their mission, build awareness, and strengthen community pride around the incredible work they do every day.

We’re grateful for the introduction to this amazing organization through The Recording Academy’s NY Chapter and the Danny Awards, and even more grateful for the opportunity to support a mission so rooted in impact, inclusion, and the joy of music.

Our founder breaks down three mistakes that we often see artists make when it comes to merch:

❌ Not thinking about who their fans are

Age, gender, style & vibe = better product decisions and stronger sales.

❌ Not staying on brand

Fans connect to the artist’s brand, merch included. When merch is off brand, the authentic messaging and vibe can be lost and it just feels different. That can negatively impact sales.

❌ Not being thoughtful or strategic
Merch shouldn’t be a last-minute scramble — it’s a key revenue driver and fan connector.

A little planning goes a long way at the merch table and beyond 🙌

More insights coming soon! 🎤✨
