So my cousin, Christy Sanchez an artist saw a concept she really liked and asked if I could cut out a hand drawn stenciled shape for her.

So of course I did, a and what she made with a 1/2" piece of msf was pretty cool..

Very long day today... Spent the morning with Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity helping on a rehab project, with some amazing women Tara Coffman Emily Stasiak and a few others... Then I had to go pick up a mill order for hardwoods... Just a few pieces...

So tonight was the second night of Forked River Baptist Church mens group doing fellowship and wood working.

It's a great night of like-minded men teaching each other and building some skills in the shop.
hoping as my business and shop grows, so does the attendance of the group. this is a great start and preview to how the non profit will work with the Broken branch initiative..

It's always a good day when you get to.support another small business. I tried their glue recently and after talking with the owner who's a maker and a dog lover like myself, how could I not use his products especially when it's basically the same price as titebond 3.
There's 4 different glues that they offer,
One is the tan glue which is an indoor wood glue like titebond 1 and 2 (but better) then there's the outdoor glue which is water proof. This is the replacement for titebond 3.. now here's where it gets good... They offer a brown glue that cured a nice dark brown for all your walnut projects but my absolute favorite, is the CLEAR wood glue I use this for my drawer boxes bc they're made from prefinished plywood and you don't want the tan to dry in the corners and look terrible if you miss a spot with the clear after you wipe it up and it cures.. it's invisible .. how can you not love that..

What a difference. And yes, it's 130 am ... We do what needs to be done to keep your business up and running while doing major work.. now that the sample/test spot is done.. they can see what the whole bar will look like.. only thing that needs to be done is a nice wet sanding then a final coat. But that can't be done until we finish the rest of that area ... What do you think? Should we get the job doing the rest of the 220sq ft bar?

1:35 am... Still working. Doing a sample section bar repair for a local bar. The finish has failed and customers complain about it being sticky... 230sq ft of bar surface. The wood is in great shape with a really nice walnut edge, even though it's hard to get past the surface.
We spent time degreasing, then lightly removing the failed finish with a diluted mix of 50/50 denatured alcohol and water using a purple synthetic scuff pad. This actually removed about 80% of the failed surface... Now we need to make it look good.

Light sanding with 400g cleaning with dn alcohol mix again and doing this until there is no more smudgy debris.

Once that was done and we washed the surface with water and let it completely dry we were able to start applying shelac based sealer to pe*****te back into the surface and give the wood it's life back. 3 coats of this and we had a good base... But nope, not done yet...

Now we're onto our 2k finish base coat sealer. We applied 2 nice coats sanding with 400g between coats getting that nice powdery feel showing us that it's going well... I think it looks great and we didn't even put the actual finish on yet.

That's just night one. Tomorrow we'll be back to sand this coat and apply the 3rd and final sealing coat. From there we will be spraying. 3 coats of 2k finish which will last this bar for at least 10-15years of service.

Productive Saturday in the shop. Got a partial in wall book case roughed out and got all the pieces for another cedar cabinet cut and grooved for assembly Monday. Now, it's time to relax.. ha. What's that mean?
