Our hearts are with Los Angeles during this devastating time as fires continue to ravage the area. The scale of destruction is unimaginable, and the road to recovery will be long and challenging. Many have lost everything, and our thoughts are with all those affected.

In an effort to support the community, we will be donating 15% of all sales through our website this month to the California Community Foundation (https://www.calfund.org/).

Though we have called Southern Vermont home for the past 15 years, and previously Brooklyn, our roots remain deeply tied to Los Angeles. David E. Scott founded DESU DESIGN in 1995 in LA, following his time at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC). In those early years, DESU primarily served as an architectural metals fabricator, collaborating with firms that would go on to shape the architectural landscape of today. At the same time, our earliest product designs laid the foundation for what would become the DESU product line.

We hope that our contribution, along with the collective efforts of others, will help provide some relief and support for those affected by the fires. Together, we will help rebuild and recover. Thank you for joining us in this effort.

A little about the bloodwood from David E. Scott:

A few months back I found out one of my small, nearby suppliers of rare exotics woods had made the decision to retire. In the early days of his career, he would scour the globe going deep in the jungles of faraway places looking for just the right trees. I thought there might be some nice pieces we could use for our SYMBOL X line. But, I also wanted to hear a few more stories before the doors closed for good. After some searching through the many stacks we settled on a gorgeous piece of Bloodwood. Even in its rough cut state, the depth of color and beautiful striation pattern were evident. We came away with a nice blank for two SYMBOL X pieces and a few more war stories.
