Had one of those weekends that reminds you why New York is the greatest city in the world.
Friday night, I watched the U.S. soccer match at Felix in SoHo. Packed house. Great crowd. There’s something special about watching a big game in New York with people who care so much ..
Saturday was even better. Started at Forest Hills Stadium, my favorite place in the city to see live music. Saw The Black Crowes, one of my all-time favorite bands, and discovered Whiskey Myers from Palestine Texas , who were terrific.
We slipped out toward the end and made it to a neighborhood bar just in time to catch the second half of the Knicks game. The place was packed with real New Yorkers loud, passionate, and completely invested. Every play felt like life or death.
Then came the celebrations. The streets were buzzing. Strangers were talking, cheering, high-fiving. The city felt alive in that way only New York can.
I’ve traveled all over the world, and there are a lot of great cities. But on a weekend like this, there’s no place I’d rather be than New York City. Not even close.
