Hey everyone, seems we got a jackpot snow fall these past few days in our little corner of the universe. After shoveling the walks, snow blowing the drive and tidying up the chicken yard you might be tempted to go around and knock the heavy snow off your prized conifers and weeping hydrangeas, but don’t! Hitting or shaking, or, heaven forbid, leaf blower blowing the snow off the branches does more harm than good plus it exposes the plant to cold winds which is worse for a plant than the snow pack. See, I saved you another chore!

So here’s what I’m up to with my extra time besides contemplating moving mounds of chicken compost to the kitchen garden: I’m taking a good look at my daffs and while they are at their very best, bringing out last years’ catalogs and noting what I have and what I’d like more of. What I have: the stalwart and majestic King Alfreds courtesy of my in-laws. 💛💛💛 What I want: the scented mutiflowering Tazetta Narcissi and some more doubles. Making notes for this fall.💚💚💚

It has been barely six days since I decided to heed the Governor’s directive and suspend working as a non essential worker but boy, it feels like a month!! In the meantime if anyone is adding gardening to their list of stay at home activities and wants to talk about what they are up to, or if you have a gardening question, here I am.💜

Hey there friends, I’ve been told we had our last snowfall of Spring last night. Although our winter in New England wasn’t as snowy as those of previous years I sure am looking forward to getting out in the garden, digging in the dirt and choosing some new plants to compliment the old friends in my borders. As always if you have a gardening question, let me know, I’ll do my best to answer you. Happy Spring!👩🏻‍🌾🦋🍄
