Xavier's Saint NICU Stockings is bringing love, support and understanding to parents and babies who have to spend Christmas in the NICU. On December 15th 2013 our son, Xavier, was born 9 weeks early. We were told on December 23rd that he might not make it to Christmas. By the grace of God and massive amounts of strength and positive energy delivered to him by our family and friends, he is a happy
and healthy survivor! We were beyond ecstatic to spend Christmas with him at all but no matter the circumstances, spending "baby's first Christmas" in the NICU is a difficult and lonely experience. There are a lot of things that you don't realize NICU parents need until you are one. First and foremost, they need support, to know that they are not alone in their journey. Second of all, they need hand lotion (insert laughter here). Seriously, you have no idea what kind of horrible things the NICU hand washing routine does to your skin. So, we are putting together stockings to be delivered to the families that have to spend Christmas in the same NICU that we did. What we are able to put in them depends on how much money we are able to raise. Any that don't get used will be saved for next year as we plan to continue doing this indefinitely. Our goal is to raise enough to make the stockings nice but we'd love to make them amazing so we are hoping to exceed $500 but will work with whatever we are lucky enough to get. We would also be happy to receive donated items and will post a list so people know what is needed. Please feel free to email us at [email protected]. We also have a PayPal account at that same email. If you choose to donate directly through PayPal, Xavier's Saint NICU Stockings will be able to make your gift go even further.
