Every San Diego local has their sunset spot.

Some people swear by Sunset Cliffs.
Others say La Jolla Cove.
A few will argue Torrey Pines is better.

But when the sky looks like this… the cliffs make a strong case.

There’s something about watching the sun disappear into the Pacific that never really gets old. It’s one of those small rituals that quietly reminds you why people fall in love with coastal San Diego in the first place.

Now settle the debate.

Where is the best sunset in San Diego?

Drop your spot in the comments so everyone has a new place to watch the next one.

(Save this for the next clear evening.)

People say they’ll move “eventually.”

They don’t.

Not after this.

Not after a few years of sunsets like this.
Not after surfing here.
Not after morning walks along the cliffs.
Not after realizing this isn’t just scenery — it’s rhythm.

Some places are beautiful.

Some places get under your skin.

This one does both.

Be honest…

Would you ever leave?

There’s something about seeing art in person that changes the experience completely.

I’ve seen photos of Banksy’s work for years — the commentary, the anonymity, the way a single image can spark conversation around the world — but walking through this exhibit in San Diego felt different. You slow down. You notice details. You start thinking about the story behind each piece and the moment in time it was created.

What struck me most wasn’t just the art itself, but how many people were standing quietly in front of the same pieces, each interpreting them in their own way. Some laughed. Some took photos. Some just stared.

Art has this ability to create shared space without requiring agreement — only attention.

It also reminded me how much I appreciate living in a place where experiences like this are accessible. From coastal sunsets to unexpected art installations, San Diego constantly offers moments that make you pause and take it in.

Curious — have you been to this exhibit yet, and if so, what piece stayed with you the most?

Just some of the reasons I love living here in San Diego. I don’t get in the water much these days as I’ve dedicated a lot of my time to Jiu Jitsu and weight training. But these summer nights make for some of the best photos, even if I’m just swimming around and not surfing.
If you’re looking to make a move to San Diego, let’s chat. I’d love to help you find the perfect home. As a San Diego native that lives and works on the coast, I know this market well.

The iconic rotating hole on top of My Helix in La Mesa is for sale. Contact me for a showing!

Repost• Introducing: our Hot Property series. A weekly-ish look at an on-the-market San Diego home. Created for our fellow Zillow scrollers, open house enthusiasts, and lovers of shiny things. More real estate eye candy than an actual resource for house hunting. (Though if you DO buy one of these properties, perhaps we could come over for drinks? We make a mean spicy marg.)

This week’s Hot Property: La Mesa’s iconic rotating home. An architectural marvel (and we don’t say that lightly), it’s the highest home on Mount Helix, perched on a cliff just under the memorial, and it rotates a full 360 degrees, on demand. Which means the views are exactly what you want them to be. Not in the mood for city lights? Spin it. Feel like looking at a different tree? Spin it. Want your dinner party to be naturally lit for a full three hours? Spin it (but just a tad, every so often, and maybe have some Dramamine on hand).

This 4,700-square-foot home has four total bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and a half bath. On the first floor: a 2-car garage with a turntable to rotate cars 180 degrees, a recreation room-slash-granny flat, a full bathroom, and kitchenette. On the second: 3,700 square feet of living space, a rotating deck, a fixed deck, and those massive windows. Fun bonuses: eleven mature fruit trees, a putting green, and solar panels.

4903 Mount Helix Drive is listed by Melvina Selfani for $5.3 million. The half-acre property sold for $265,000 in 1999, and the home itself was built in ’04.
