Alabama is NOT New York!

A national lockdown is bad medicine and worse politics.

Dear Governor Ivey,

While I live in the same state as you, I feel a world away. You asked us to help you; we did. You asked us to close our business; we did. You asked us to stay home; we did. You asked us to continue to stay at home; we are. So here I am, at home, waiting. You told us, “Don’t worry; unemployment will come,” but it hasn’t. You told us, “Don’t worry; grants are coming,” but they haven’t. You told us, “Don’t worry; forgivable loans are coming,” but they haven’t. So here I am, at home waiting. I wait alongside most of my fellow small business owners, those self-employed and independent contractors. A massive number of Alabama residents are waiting for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, waiting for loan approvals, waiting for stimulus checks, and many who have never needed help are now even waiting for food stamps. For every single one of these programs, we are at the back of the line. For some, we have already been denied. But, still, we wait. Bills come daily and savings continuously dwindle, yet we are still doing our part. It is time you do yours. It is an inconceivable expectation to close “unessential” business, halting all income, and expect us to survive. We need to pay our bills and put food on the table. Without immediate action, you are leaving us no options. How are we to survive? We deserve an answer. Coming soon is no longer acceptable!!!

Signed,
One of the thousands of crippled small business owners in Alabama

The Nodine Report

The Nodine Report will bring updated news and events to support the recovery, resiliency, and continuity of the Gulf Coast during the Coronavirus Pandemic. We have a positive view that the Gulf Coast will rebound just as it did following Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina as well as the Deepwater BP Oil Spill, as long as appropriate measures are taken by those in leadership positions.

The program’s namesake, Stephen Nodine, has the leadership experience from serving as a City Councilman and President of the Mobile County Commission through these past challenges to offer viable, proven ideas and direction today. Added to his years of experience as a lobbyist throughout the Southeast, his unique understanding of both “sides” of the current situation will help leaders, business owners, and workers in all walks of life have a better understanding of what needs to be done to not only get our region back on track, but to also foster a confidence amongst all those who live here in our community.

Nodine has faced and overcome his own personal challenges, including taking ownership of mistakes that he’s made but also knowing how it feels to be a “target” to the system. These challenges provide him with even more depth of understanding and a different perspective than most. All these qualities added together make this unique show informative, engaging, and entertaining as well. We hope you’ll join us every weekday at 3pm to work towards bringing life, love, peace, and prosperity back to the Gulf Coast!
