Just my morning meditation…

Why am I growing food? Why am I raising meat? Why am I baking bread?

Because God designed us to be fueled by SOMETHING, and I don’t think it’s supposed to be complicated. It should be simple, and real and good.

Some days I don’t get much done. I just walk around and check on all the things I have to do.

Children laughing, the sun on my back, a sleeping baby in my arms, working together as a family, watching my children find the satisfaction in hard work, learning to appreciate the simple blessings the Lord has given… these are the days I will always remember.

I love having a few extra loaves of sourdough in my freezer for busy weeks when I don’t have time to bake. I usually slice it thin, close it tightly in a ziplock bag, and freeze up to several months. When I want to use it, I let it sit on the counter for a few hours and it thaws up beautifully. Perfect for a quick sandwich like this lightly toasted egg salad. 🤤

Sourdough is so good for your gut flora, plus made with fresh milled flour, it packs a nutritional punch that white bread just can’t touch. It’s just real, simple food.

Some footage I took last week of the deer damage all over the farm. They are coming in closer to the house and doing way more damage to our plants than usual.
