30% tariff on upholstered furniture

"This tariff applies specifically to upholstered furniture with wooden components. It also starts at 25% on October 14, 2025, and increases to 30% on January 1, 2026. About 62% of furniture imports came from Vietnam and China in 2024, according to trade data."

"Living room sets, sofas with wooden frames, upholstered dining chairs, ottomans and similar pieces face this rate. Even smaller upholstered items like accent chairs and benches will see the same rate applied."

Pro tip: When buying new furniture, think twice about buying an extended warranty. I can't recall a single instance of a customer telling me that an issue they had with their furniture was actually covered by their extended warranty, so it would seem that virtually nothing is covered by these so-called warranties. (If you've had a different experience I'd love to hear about it.)
