A few different versions of the Fenway Park grandstand signs I have made for customers. These painted signs are replicas of the old grandstand signs that hang in the park. The grandstand signs predate most of the current ballpark signs and have been used since at least the 1960’s. While referencing the original versions, I have redrawn the hand painted lettering style that was used so that each sign is as true to the original as possible. For anyone interested, all sections are available, along with custom sizes.

I do not think that the GIF I posted last night worked correctly. Let me try that again...

Quick before & after router plane restoration GIF. This Stanley type 2 (1902-1905) was in rough shape when I got it but after cleaning it, sharpening the blade and flipping the depth adjustment nut around to the factory position it cuts perfectly. I will have a full 360 transformation video up at some point along with some shots of it in action.

Pair of painted wood signs I made that a customer had autographed by Hall of Famers Carlton Fisk and Jim Rice. Both pieces were signed at the GBSCC Show two weeks ago.

Personal project I recently finished. I incorporated purple heart wood with the maple so it would represent the layout on the service ribbons given to Purple Heart recipients. I used hand tools to joint, plane and rabbet the stock. I used the table saw to cut the miters with a vertical sled for the bottom angles. I also used an 17th century ogee router bit for the profile on the front trim. I referenced the flag case holder plans they have posted on their blog to get my final dimensions. Happy Veteran’s Day to all those that served.

Historically accurate reproduction of the Gate A sign that hung outside Fenway from the 1950’s until the late 80’s, and possibly even the early 90’s. While the original sign was made out of metal, I made this one out of wood. My research shows early versions of the sign did not include the “today’s tickets” text. That text was most likely added in the 70’s, as shown in the reference photo if you swipe. The “today’s tickets” text was again changed in the 80’s to slightly larger lettering than shown here.

“I don’t care if Helen of Troy walks in the room, that’s game six!”

Game 6 of the 1975 World Series started on the 21st but ended on the 22nd thanks to a walk off home run by Carlton Fisk in the bottom of the 12th. I painted these ticket themed co****le boards to be an exact replica of the actual tickets used that historic day and included the iconic image of Fisk waving the ball fair on the underside. A little bit of everything went into this project including acrylic halftones, stain, paint, and polyurethane.

Today marks the 44th anniversary of one of the greatest World Series games ever played. These are some closeups of a commission I did a few months ago. A little bit of everything went into this project: acrylic halftones, stain, paint and polyurethane. I will post the full pictures tomorrow.
