I had my annual vet visit yesterday. The doctor says I'm healthy. Actually, she said I'm "healthy." You know... with air quotes. Then she said she wouldn't be upset if I lost a couple of pounds and told Mom that walking 1.6 miles a day is perfectly acceptable.

RUDE.

Then they stole my blood. Nearly all of it, judging by the size of that bandage. Look at that thing! I did get treats and ear rubs, so for a brief moment I thought I had made a new friend. Turns out she was working with Mom the whole time.

To make matters worse, I got not one, but TWO shots! They also renewed my license for another year, which is nice, I guess. Personally, I think the rabies shot should have gone to Mom because she is definitely the rabid one around here. So now I'm "healthy," licensed, vaccinated, and suffering from trust issues.

All this on what was supposed to be my day off.

Mom says I stink.

RUDE.

So after all my hard work, all my walking, all my sweating, and losing almost a whole pound...

I got sentenced to bath time.

The evidence against me was apparently overwhelming.

Now I've been scrubbed, rinsed, towel-wrapped, and publicly humiliated on the internet.

On the bright side, I smell like oatmeal and disappointment.

I would like to file a formal complaint.

But first...

I need a nap.

Baths are exhausting.

🐾 BIG NEWS! 🐾

Mom ordered a DNA test for me!

In just a few weeks, I may finally learn what I am. For over a year, people have been guessing everything from Weimaraner to Labrador Retriever to Yellow Hippopotamus.

Personally, I'm hoping for something impressive. Wolf? Lion? Bear? Land
Seal?

Mom says the results will probably come back as 50% Bully Stick Enthusiast, 50% Recliner Inspector, 98% Troublemaker, 2% Good Girl. I don't think Mom understands math.

The kit is on its way, and I can hardly contain my excitement. Soon I'll know where I came from, what breeds make me... me... and whether my tendency to steal hearts (and occasionally personal space) is hereditary.

Until then, let the guessing begin!

What breed mix do YOU think I am? 🐾

Elly Mae’s Daily Dispatch 🐾

Apparently, I have now walked 4.2 miles in 3 days.

By my calculations, that’s approximately one and a half trips around the world.

Chuck Jennings, aka Dad, insists this is “mathematically impossible” and claims I’ve walked “nowhere near the circumference of the Earth.” Then he launched into a detailed lecture involving the size of the Earth, astronomy, and at least three episodes of Star Trek. I quit listening somewhere around “actually…”

Honestly, to crush a girl’s dreams like that.

Rude.

Besides, I’m currently on portion control. The fact that I’m receiving enough nutrition to power these massive expeditions is nothing short of a scientific miracle. Yet somehow, through sheer determination, courage, and an unwavering commitment to sniffing every blade of grass in Shelby County, I continue onward.

Mom says I’m doing great, but she also says we’re going to have to keep this up consistently if we want to see results. Personally, I think losing 37 pounds after walking 4.2 miles is a perfectly reasonable expectation, but apparently that’s not how science works either.

So tomorrow, I march again.

For fitness.

For health.

For the treats I am no longer allowed to have.

And maybe—just maybe—to prove to Dad that the Earth is smaller than he thinks.

Portion control has officially started. 🍝
As has my new “exercise plan.”

Mom took me to the park today, and I was THRILLED because I assumed “park” meant the thing she does every evening where she collapses onto the couch with snacks and stares at the glowing rectangle for three hours.

Honestly? I was ready to support her in that activity.

Oh no. That was not the kind of park she meant.

Apparently she meant WALKING. Outside. Voluntarily.

And if you know my mom, she already power-walks through life in heels 👠 like she’s late for a very important meeting with absolutely no snacks involved. But today? Today she unleashed something called “tennis shoes.”👟

Friends… she became SPEED.🏎️

I barely had time to process one blade of grass before she was halfway to the next zip code.

This whole “walking for health” situation is extremely new to me, and frankly, I have concerns. I tried to stop and sniff things every six seconds like a responsible neighborhood investigator, but Mom kept saying: “No ma’am. We have to stay on target.”

Stay on target?! Ma’am, there was a squirrel 🐿️ who had clearly been making questionable life choices near the oak tree. 🌳 I needed details.

So naturally, I attempted to redirect her toward every smell, leaf, bird, wrapper, ant, mysterious puddle, and breeze I found important.

If I heard the phrase “bowling ball on a leash” once, I heard it a thousand times.

Rude.

According to Mom, this is now part of our regular routine.

Today we walked 1.6 miles, which I can only assume is roughly half the circumference of the Earth 🌎 and at least three emotional miles.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 🐾

🚨🐾 OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ELLY MAE REGARDING TODAY’S INCIDENT 🐾🚨

Today, I experienced what can only be described as a brief but deeply meaningful journey toward freedom.

Apparently a customer opened the door at just the right moment and before anyone could say “WAIT—” I launched myself into the wild frontier of East Memphis.

For those unfamiliar, this was not some quiet little side street situation. Oh no. I headed directly toward Poplar Avenue… a SIX LANE ROAD with a center turn lane and over 30,000 cars a day. 🚗🚙🚚

Naturally, Mom completely lost her mind.

I glanced back once and saw her kick off her shoes mid-run like an action movie hero. One minute she was standing in heels looking professional. The next minute she was sprinting barefoot across sidewalks yelling things that frankly did not sound very ladylike.

Honestly, for an old woman, Mom moves pretty good.
Especially in heels.

At one point I headed south toward Poplar, then made a tactical turn north toward East Memphis Pet Hospital because every great escape needs dramatic plot twists.

Meanwhile Mom is out there barefoot, panicked, probably negotiating with Jesus, and waving her arms like one of those airport runway workers.

Thankfully, a very kind lady pulling out nearby saw the situation unfolding:

* barefoot woman ✔️
* high heels abandoned on sidewalk ✔️
* fugitive near Poplar ✔️
* obvious emotional breakdown coming ✔️

She stopped her car, called me over, and Mom scooped me up like I was some delicate little baby angel.

Then came the betrayal.

Mom carried all 47.3 pounds of me back across the parking lot while announcing my weight to the entire Mid-South region. PUBLICLY. Loudly. Repeatedly.

So now, not only am I grounded… apparently I’m “starting a diet.”

Rude.

The customer who accidentally released me disappeared during the incident, which honestly adds to the mystery and intrigue of the entire event.

Mom says the whole thing lasted several hours.

In my opinion, it was merely seconds of glorious freedom.

We finally made it back to the store where Mom immediately poured herself a glass of wine. 🍷

Interesting.

So let the record show:

* I get publicly weighed (and humiliated) on the internet
* Mom gets emotional support beverages

Honestly, I feel this situation lacks fairness and accountability.

Still… after watching Mom go from “professional business owner” to “barefoot woman chasing me down Poplar Avenue,” I suppose I understand.

Anyway… I’m safe.
Mom survived.
The shoes were recovered.
And apparently tomorrow we begin “portion control.”

Please keep me in your thoughts during this difficult time. 🐾

Mom is HOME. 🐾

And let me tell you… I could not take my eyes off her all day. I followed her from one end of the store to the other just making sure she didn’t disappear to another “product expo” without me again. 😒

But GOOD LORD, the woman talked nonstop.

Standing desks. Office chairs. Massage chairs. Steppers. Saunas. Sheets. Pillows. OY.

I think my ears are bleeding.

Apparently there are “so many exciting things coming to Relax The Back Memphis.” Nothing is here yet… but according to her, it’s ALL on the way.

Honestly, I’m just happy my emotional support human is back where she belongs. 🖤

Elly Mae reporting from Memphis…

Mom is officially headed home from Texas after several days of “important ergonomic business,” which apparently involved walking miles in heels, sitting in every chair in existence, and talking about comfort for 14 hours a day.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Pat held down the fort at Relax The Back Memphis and did an absolutely phenomenal job. She kept things running smoothly, helped customers, and gathered information from walk-ins and phone calls like a seasoned pro. Not bad for “part-time help,” if you ask me.

The good news?
Mom says she’s bringing home LOTS of ideas, new products, and exciting things for Relax The Back Memphis. She also got to reconnect with old friends she hadn’t seen in far too long, which apparently made the trip even more special.

The better news?
My staff is finally returning where she belongs.

Now if everyone could please keep an eye out for a redhead rolling through the airport carrying a phone full of notes and pictures, a brand-new Texas magnet, and approximately 47 new ideas for Relax The Back Memphis… I’d appreciate it.

Apparently the convention mission today was: test absolutely everything.

Mom tackled the elliptical bike, the vibration plates, massage chairs, ergonomic seating… and somehow managed to do it all in heels without breaking stride. 👠😂

I’m still waiting to get the videos off her phone, but trust me — the footage of her on the vibration plate alone may deserve its own feature presentation.

Between the wellness products, recovery tech, and all the new comfort innovations she’s been exploring, it’s been a very busy (and very entertaining) market trip. Stay tuned… because there’s definitely more coming once I get access to the videos.
