I first met Dolly backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. I was a big admirer of her and her work, we both were recording for RCA at the time. She had a great (or wicked) sense of humor and asked me if I wanted to touch her chest to see if they were real! I knew better! That broke the ice and I have enjoyed all our times together ever since. Her amazing writing and choice of music have always captivated me, and I have loved and appreciated her many roles in the music business, but mostly her entrepreneurship! We've lost the biggest heart and the biggest real star in the entertainment world.

She always called me her blind date.

We are devastated to hear the passing of the legend Dolly Parton. She was a gifted and talented icon who championed human welfare, health, and happiness. A singer-songwriter, musician & producer.... There was nothing that she could not do. What a life and legacy.
It's a very sad day indeed.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to a true country music icon, Opry member Dolly Parton.

There is no doubt Dolly’s mark on the world, and on us here at the Grand Ole Opry, will be deeply felt for generations to come. She taught us to always lead with kindness, generosity, and compassion. May her legacy live on through her songs, the lives she touched, and the countless artists she inspired. There will never, ever be another one like her.

From one little house in the South to another, we understand the power of a beginning.

Today, the world lost Dolly Parton — a songwriter, storyteller, dreamer, philanthropist and one of the most beloved voices American music has ever known.

Like Elvis, Dolly’s story began humbly. She grew up with very little, but with music, faith, family and a dream bigger than the place where she started.

And she never forgot where she came from.

She gave us songs that became part of our lives, but her legacy reaches far beyond music. She gave generously, championed children and literacy, lifted up her home state and spent a lifetime reminding people that where you begin does not determine how far you can go.

Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright, and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Dolly is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years Carl Thomas Dean (1942 – 2025), her mother Avie Lee Caroline Owens (1923 – 2003), and father, Robert Lee Parton, Sr. (1921 – 2000).

A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.
