Can we finish a barrel to furniture quality? You bet! Most customers want their barrels to look like they do in the rickhouse but this customer wanted a more “finished” look. This project took A TON of time on the sander (about 40 hours total) but they turned out beautiful. Barrels sanded and stained, hoops removed/repainted, satin poly applied. These beauties are show-stoppers!

This weekend has been a productive one! In addition to playing with the welder, I also fired up the laser engraver to mock up another new product. This barrel stave sign will be “floated” on a hammered copper background to proudly display a fully customizable engraving of your choice! I’m toying with the idea of backlights for a super cool effect (at least in my head 🤣). Finished photos to follow later this week!

I’ve had an idea for a hanging light fixture (certainly not fancy enough to be a chandelier). Problem was, I didn’t know how to weld! Well, an online purchase of a welder and some YouTube videos later and I may be the worlds WORST welder; but hey…even Picasso started somewhere. Stay tuned. I think this will be a cool project.
