A small change that will put more ReStore dollars to work in our community.
As of Septmber 2nd, the Habitat ReStore has adopted a dual-pricing model. Customers paying with cash will continue to pay the posted price, while card purchases will include a 3.5% processing fee.
For a $10 card purchase, that's just 35 cents.
Why the change?
As we began our annual audit, we discovered that Habitat paid approximately $38,000 in card processing fees last year alone. We have resisted passing those costs along to our customers until now, but seeing $38,000 made us stop and think about what those dollars could accomplish instead.
That money can help repair leaking roofs, replace failing HVAC systems and water heaters, make homes safer and more accessible, and allow local homeowners to remain safely in the homes they already own.
By offsetting our card processing costs, thousands more dollars each year can go directly into Habitat's Critical Home Repair Program instead of to payment processing companies.
