I get asked so many times if redoing/refinishing their old piece of furniture is worth it. I have never in 20 years said No. If you have something that is special and good quality it’s worth trying to bring it back to life! Good quality furniture is hard to find and very expensive to replace not to mention the sentimental value which is priceless! This dining room set had been sitting in storage and the weather damaged it…a lot. You can see that the wood was actually splitting on the chair backs. I used wood filler and lots of patience and glue. Is it perfect, absolutely not, but it turned out so pretty and still has character and beauty of all the years of meals eaten on it and lots of family conversations around it. It just needed a little/lotta TLC.

I’m not sure if I’ve said it before…I love to take an item that you want to get rid of and give it some flare to fit your home and space. These vases were fun to work on!!

Please do not come for me for painting this beautiful antique piece.. This cabinet was inherited from my sweet clients Mother so who knows how old it actually is. It was damaged and client wanted a fresh look for this space. She almost bought a new piece of furniture then realized she could make this one perfect for what she wanted. I painted it with Benjamin Moores White Dove and added gold rub to the ribbon accents. I also added gold rub to the handles. Completely changed the feel of this space and updated the look. I love working with this lady, she has been a client and now friend for 6 years.

Sometimes my jobs are big and noticeable and sometimes it’s a “simple” clear coat for a treasured hand made table. This was a long time client that is so incredibly talented with his carpenter skills. He and his wife are very special people who I enjoy working with so much. This table seats 12 and has a lazy Susan on top. It is made with hardwood that is not planed or sanded. They wanted to keep the natural look and no sheen. After much research and advice from my paint store friends at Hattiesburg Paint & Decorating, I was able to choose a clear coat for it. I applied 6 coats, yes 6….sounds like too many but with each coat I was able to fill in all of the holes that had to be smooth and make sure it was extra durable for all the many special family meals that would be shared around it. I cherish my friend clients I have made throughout the last 20 years doing what I love.
